Darlene A. Dartt is Senior Scientist and Harold F. Johnson Research Scholar at Schepens Eye Research Institute, Massachusetts Eye and Ear, and Professor in the Department of Opthalmology at Harvard Medical School. She was Director of Research at the Institute for ten years. Dartt served on the National (US) Eye Institute Program Planning Panel and is a Gold Fellow of the Association of Research of Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). Dartt has over 150 publications and her research has been continuously funded by the National (US) Eye Institute since 1980. She has received a number of research awards and holds several patents related to dry eye disease. Dartt served as Vice-President for North America for the International Society for Eye Research and a Councilor for the International Society for Contact Lens Wear. She is on the Editorial Board of several scientific journals and was Editor-In-Chief for the Encyclopedia of the Eye.
