TRADITIONAL TESTS
The Norwegian Dry Eye Clinic uses a panel of traditional tests to diagnose generic dry eye disease, aqueous-deficient dry eye and MGD-related evaporative dry eye. The panel consists of measurement of the blink rate and calculation of the blink interval and ocular protection index, tear meniscus height, corneal sensibility with Cochet-Bonnet esthesiometer, tear film break-up time, grading of corneal and conjunctival fluorescein staining, Schirmer test I and II, meibum quality and meibum expressibility.
The picture shows inflammation signs on the surface of the cornea which can cause both pain and impaired vision. In such cases, prescription of anti-inflammatory eye drops necessary to heal the ocular surface.
